This is a Photo of Bob Dyer who came to the lab to show us how it works
This is the control unit the operator would sit in to control the robot that is roving. The ARVIS was originally designed to demonstrate "Proof of Conscept" for remote operated aircraft. This operator station is equiped with a special helmet that senses head movement. When the pilot or operator turns to look left the robots camera pans left. When the operator looks up the robots camera looks left. This chair has a joystick with a remote transmitter instaled. The video feed is tethered, we hope to make it transmitable in a wireless fashion. We are working hard to get this robot funcitonal for the Club Caucus Thursday May 20th at 3PM in the student Government office. |

The back of the ARVIS Control Station
Here we have Bob Dyer (volunteer), Mia (student), Mark (student) inspecting the internals of the ARVIS. We expect we will be modifing the control unit so that the chair can be taken out of the equation. The Robotics/techtrons lab is limited for space. NSCC has decided to take this lab space from the students so we need to streamline the operation as much as posible. We hope to maintain the control system and develop it into a "backpack" system that can be warn. |
